The journey of 1500 miles......

This spring our family traveled many miles  to visit Sequioa/Kings Canyon, Death Valley and Las Vegas.  It was a wonderful trip filled with unexpected surprises and lots of miles.  Our trip began on Sunday, March 29.  We headed north towards the Sierra Nevada and enjoyed the countryside of California.  We took a different route (the road less traveled) and saw the "happy cows of California" as well as spring blossoms on the hillsides of mountains.  As we entered Kings Canyon Xavier and Emmelie were so excited about the snow that we pulled over and played for a little while.  We stayed at Wusachi Lodge inside Sequoia National Forest where we experience God's beauty!  You can't help but be aware how big God is when you are surrounded by these giant trees.  A winding exit led us to the Kawaeah River where we encountered our first unexpected event.  Xavier, unaware of his surroundings, slipped into the river.  Fortunately, Mommy was nearby and she pulled him out before he got swept down the river and over the dam.  Our next stop was Death Valley.  Boy, was it hot!  The highlight of this area was Scotty's Castle - a huge ranch in the northern region of Death Valley.  The engineering feat used to build this castle was amazing.  We were treated to a view and concert of the built in pipe organ in the music room.  After traveling through Death Valley, we parked our family at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas where we visited the Hoover Dam, Circus Circus as well as local sites on Freemont Street.  It was a wonderful family time and the kids hardly asked..."Are we there yet?"  Unbelievable!

Can you say....Road Trip!!!!

The largest tree in the world...General Sherman

What a desolate place....below sea level, too!
